Follow Our Journey! Earlies – Day 7

Written by Joey V., Mate

On June 16th the crew aboard Malia woke with cheerful anticipation as they de-moored from Trellis Bay and set sail for Savannah Bay. While underway, Malia’s Captain, Grace, taught a lesson on the points of sail and demonstrated proper sail-trimming techniques with the crew.

After anchoring (on the second try!) and eating lunch of burritos, veggies, and pineapple, our campers on Malia rode dinghies to shore and competed in Sail Caribbean’s annual Olympic Games!

Spectators would later recall having witnessed the greatest synchronized swimming performance in eras, coupled with peak athletic performance in the Dizzy Fender relay race. Records were shattered that day and campers returned to their boat with a rekindled sense of pride among their crew.

A feast was held in celebration of a successful day and the crew aboard Malia fell asleep on deck, under the stars to the strumming of Joey’s guitar.
