FORT MYERS, Fla. – The United States Coast Guard rescued four people and a dog south of Sanibel Island on Wednesday.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the group and their pup were the crew of a sailboat named, North Wind.
A press release states the crew called for help around 7:45 p.m. because their boat was filling with water from the weather.
The boat’s sails were torn and its rudder was broken.
Officials say the weather included four to five-foot seas and 20 to 25 mph winds.
The group was brought back safely to the Fort Myers Beach station and no injuries were reported.
