Day 8 was another amazing day on Alpha Fleet! Today we had a bit of a later wake up and had a nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Around 9am we picked up the anchor, some people went in a Colgate (our smaller keel-boats), and the rest began our sail to Little Harbor. The sail was a beautiful downwind sail that allowed everyone to work on the jibing and sail trim. With challenge day coming up the kids are starting to take more responsibility and becoming more confident with the boat.
As we neared Little Harbor we prepared a med anchoring lesson although the harbor ended up being full of boats. No worries though, Great Harbor was right around the corner and also a very fun spot, so we decided to stay the night there. The fleet picked up mooring balls there and then began lunch which was pizza bagels! Once on the ball, water-sporting started. Some people went on Colgates and others went tubing or wake-boarding.
Everyone else stayed back for a squid dissection led by our Marine Biology staff! During the dissection the kids learned both the external and internal anatomy of the squids. After we cleaned everything up the fleet began showers and dinner prep. Dinner today was pan lasagna. The night ended with a fun musical performance from Joey, one of the staff members. Overall, it was another great day on Alpha Fleet!
