On Monday, July 17th, staff enthusiastically greeted students at the airport and brought them to our home base, Hodges Creek Marina on Tortola. Students were directed to their respective boats and met their captain and mates. As they got settled into their new home for the next three weeks, more students continued to arrive. Campers called home to check in that they made it to camp safely and began introductions with their crew. Soon enough, it was time for dinner, which we served boat by boat on the dock. We enjoyed chicken, rice with beans, and vegetables, yum! We hung out for a bit and played card games like Uno. At around 8 pm, boat meetings were held in which our captain reviewed some ground rules and what the next day would look like. We eventually all went to sleep setting up our linens in our cabins, hammocks, or sleeping under the stars on the bow.
Bravo, Charlie, Foxtrot, & Sierra programs travel together and are often referred to as “Mega Fleet.” We have five Mega Fleet boats out this session with students grouped by age and program. Check out our crew in the boat photos above!
